Functions and real-world applications - Geometric Patterns

On each night, Mr Math Weeney will showcase how you can bring functions and patterns into your classroom, using everyday items and pictures for inspiration.
The goal throughout is to grab the students attention and make it competitive and engaging to find the answers. Motivation among your students should increase greatly.
Learning Outcomes:
- Teachers will be able to use real-life applications of linear patterns to design creative, novel tasks for students.
- Teachers will be able to model the height of juggling balls using quadratic patterns.
- Teachers will develop an understanding of Geometric patterns and how to utilise novel problems that are applicable to student's lives.

Mr Math Weeney is a Secondary School teacher of Maths and Applied Maths with 11 years’ experience in various settings, including 7 years in DEIS schools. Having learned through experience, and completing various Creativity-centred courses, he developed the PHATT Maths principle- If you can make a lesson Physical, Humorous, Active, Tech based and in Team, then you're sure to engage all learners.
